looking for advice in how to handle this

I got a chap at the door yesterday about an incident that happened in nursery between Tuesday and Wednesday this week they said that it was reported to the care inspector that a member of staff picked my child up with the arm turned him 180 around to take him to get his bum done the police said the managers view on it is quite vague on it she said it’s not as bad as it’s been made out where do I stand it’s getting investigated just now

As someone who works in healthcare, things that ‘aren’t too bad’ don’t get reported to inspectorates. I’ve seen way too much be swept under the rug that if something was bad enough to be reported, I wouldn’t be putting my child back there x Edit to add, managers will downplay anything to save their ass

Sophie I think the same thing tbh it’s must be more to it for someone to report it I want to see cctv as well and he won’t be back

No one let alone a child should be picked up by the arm, don’t let them down play it. If there is CCTV absolute view it if they refuse you access insist on a police member view it. I wouldn’t be sending my child back there, If i where you i’d absolutely go forward with an investigation someone obviously thought it was inappropriate or there wouldn’t be an investigation. hope he’s okay x

The police said yesterday that it’s getting investigated the now I should here back with a crime number if there going down that route of crime the police said but there said her view is quite vague for what she was telling them as well as she’s said to us last night anyways am like wit the fuck I didn’t even know about anything and didn’t sign anything

The manager has camera as she’s got it on the tv in her room there’s cameras in the room my wee boys in

This is a huge red flag omg!! I work in a nursery and if anything was that bad that it had to be reported to care inspectorate (which I’ve never personally experienced in my career!) I’d assume the parents have to be contacted by the nursery to alert them!! Was it the police that chapped your door? I’m horrified that that’s happened to your wee one I’m so sorry! Hope you’re all okay x

The manager is saying it’s not a bad has it’s been made out to everyone and she not concerned well am sorry we will see what the investigators think that not good regardless of how it is tbh something must had happened for it to go this far surly cause if it was nothing then it would have got dropped right

@Gemma Mc in my experience if there was any sort of issue that wasn’t major then we’d phone parents and speak to them about it (like if a kid bit another kid etc etc) but if it’s gone to care inspectorate either someone has whistle blown to them behind the managers back (which is also fair if they felt it was bad enough!) or the manager is downplaying it to make them feel better. Nothing goes to care inspectorate that doesn’t warrant a huge investigation!! What a worry for yous, hope you can find another setting that works for you and your wee one. Please be assured not all nurseries are like that! X
