I've just hit 3 weeks and feel the same. Over the last week I have started to pump and bottle feed and now I'm considering phasing it out. I had a 3 and 6 year old and soon my husband goes back to work and the thought of nursery run, plus school run and a baby stuck to my boob is giving me anxiety and I don't think I can make it work. Your baby has had all the good stuff and you need to do what works for you and your family.
I’m at three weeks too and absolutely mentally exhausted by breastfeeding due to the pain and the little one not gaining weight properly. I’m now topping up with formula and also express milk to give him in a bottle for some of the feeds. It’s already helped me so much mentally! Do what works for you and the family!
Fed is best so do what works for you. Although I will say it does get a lot easier to breastfeed once you’re out of the newborn stage and they’re in a proper routine xx
I’m so relieved to see this thread I’m 4 weeks pp and the breastfeeding is doing me in. I formula fed my firstborn and had a much better postpartum experience. I’ve had a few issues with the latch in the first week and a lactation consultant came round to help me but honestly I’m not really enjoying it. I’m expressing milk as well so my partner can feed her especially as I was finding it had to do school run, washing, cooking and cleaning while bf on demand and i much prefer expressing to bf. I think as long as the babies are fed and not going hungry then that is the most important thing. I am determined to get to 2 months and then I’ll see if I can continue but I am going to be giving an expressed bottle as and when I feel neccesary. We have to look after ourselves as well.
4 weeks is amazing! I’m nearly at 3 weeks & it’s such hard work. I had to introduce 1 bottle apatamil early on to top up breastfeeding as baby wasn’t gaining weight. Now have stopped them & mainly doing expressing & bf. Have you thought about pumping / expressing & giving as a bottle?
