Overcook vegetables like broccoli and carrot for first tastes! At first, they don’t eat much and tend to just play which is normal to explore it Edit: A good tip is if you can squish it in between your fingers then they can chew with gums if no teeth x

@Becky thank you 😊❤️

We did white rice with breastmilk first like a little cereal. If I did it over I would’ve done mashed banana or sweet potato

We started with baby cereals and baby purées :) now my daughter is one and she eats shredded cheese scramble eggs toast pretty much anything :)

My first sons health visitor recommended a book called “New complete baby and toddler meal planner” which I find handy 😊 one tip is to steam rather than boil if possible to maintain more of the nutrients for them. Banana and rice are a couple good starters 😊 x

Steamed yams and butternut squash

We started with puree sweet potatoes and bananas. Mine was a huge fan of banana

I highly recommend using the app Solid Starts. It has great suggestions on how to cook or cut up foods based on their ages. My son’s first meal was steak, carrots and pasta. For the first several weeks, a lot of it is just them learning how to manage food in their mouths and what it feels like to swallow something that isn’t just milk.

We dived right into solids. It worked out great! It was way easier for me because i didn’t have to cook a special “baby meal,” just made sure to have deconstructed bits from our meals without salt and prepared in age appropriate ways. Solid starts has a great app that shows you how to introduce foods safely by age. Our baby’s first foods at 6months were avocado, black beans and broccoli. We waited until 8 months to introduce fruit (sparingly) so baby didn’t develop an overly sweet palate

We did sweet potato, carrots, avocado and banana as 1st foods 😊 just caution on the banana bc it may cause constipation

We started with purees. Started off with beets, then sweet potato

We did pancakes! For myself if I can mush it with only my tongue then it was good!

@Emilia I should’ve added she’s already tried purées and the cereals 🤭my bad lol she’s also got two teeth coming in and has been chewing for for a few weeks

@Vanessa thank you !!

It’s good to introduce allergens as soon as possible (one by one) as the longer you leave this, the more likely for allergies to develop. So worth incorporating these into the foods you introduce, but always do one at a time and they also recommend waiting a day between each just to be sure. Eg egg, peanuts, ground nuts (small amounts of nut butters can be easily mixed into foods), fish, shellfish etc
