Self settling

I don’t get it personally. Even I need something to help me fall asleep so expecting babies to be able to do this just doesn’t make sense to me personally. Absolutely no judgement to anyone that does to it. I’d just rather cuddle my LO until they fall asleep

Completely agree on this. My daughter will roll and shuffle around her cot all night if I let her. Most of the time she gets herself stuck from wriggling around so I end up having to get up and get her anyway. It’s just quicker and easier if I settle her to sleep whichever way I need to

My LO will self settle at bedtime but doesn't for naps or after a night feed 🤷‍♀️ He has his last feed at 7, prep for bed at 7:15 and popped into his cot at 7:30 where he falls asleep almost as soon as I put him in. No idea why he does this at night as first naps and night feeds he just screams if I put him in but will fall asleep as soon as I pick him up 🤷‍♀️

My son does this but he self settles - sometimes takes 5 mins, sometimes 20! He doesn’t cry though just seems to like rolling about/getting comfortable and then he falls asleep. We did a little bit of sleep training to help him self settle as he was getting too heavy to be rocked every-time! Only took him around 5 days to learn x

@Naomi this is the same as my Lo and does the exact same rolling around etc and then falls asleep.

We taught our little boy to self soothe at 4 months And honestly he's a little dream to poo down for naps and bedtime. We just pip him down in his bag and he's off asleep We had to go through whinging for a few days but it's amazing now

I'm definitely not against teaching self settling but it just seems like bedtime would take so long waiting for baby to sleep herself and I don't have the time to wait. My baby could self settle before the rolling 🙁. Maybe she still can and I'm not waiting long enough to see but before it was within a few minutes and now there is almost always crying involved when she wakes. How did you teach self settling if you don't mind me asking? ☺️

Yes unless they are cying there eyes out just leave them, mine move around and chat they eventually drop off x Look up the feber method, takes a few long nights to get them used to it/for them to get the gist of it x
