Help!

Hi, I have a doctors appointment on Monday but would like to ask for advice! My baby has gone from drinking 6oz per feed to only being able to drink 2oz then screaming afterwards. He cries because he’s hungry, but then cries in pain when he’s drinking! What he does drink, he spits up a lot and is sicky…we go through a muslin and bib per feed. His poo has mucus in occasionally. I’ve tried infacol which makes him really sicky, gripe water and dentinox but nothing helps. He brings his wind up absolutely fine! He formula fed on aptamil He was on teat size 2 but I’ve tried him back on a size 1 and no difference! Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Any advice for how I can help him until Monday? Really don’t know how I can help him but it’s awful ♥️

Sounds like reflux and possibly cmpa as well if mucus in stools- does he seem in pain when passing wind/ is he really unsettled? Deffo reflux sounding though maybe gp might be able to prescribe gaviscon to put into feeds which seems to help a bit

Hmm, sounds abit like CMPA especially being sick & mucusy poo

He might be dairy intolerant. Disgusting as it might sound take a picture of the mucus in the poo & don’t let the doctors fob you off. Demand to try the dairy free formula (my eldest was put on it for a while and I needed a prescription for it).

Thank you! I was thinking CMPA but he doesn’t have any rash’s! He’s extremely unsettled and very screamy!! Would it be worth going to the shop and getting some Kendamil goat milk or aptamil cmpa milk to try or would you just wait for the doctors on Monday? Xx

@Sophie can’t hurt to try but it may take a couple of days to show any difference so don’t be put off if you don’t get an immediate change (there’ll still be old milk in his system) x

@Sophie to be honest I’m not sure and I can’t remember which one I was prescribed for my eldest. I would go with the aptamil CMPA milk to be sure.

@Sophie my little one has ‘suspected’ cmpa and never had a rash, it was mainly his poo x

I would say it’s reflux both mine have the same. For a short period they thought my youngest had CMPA but the sickness got worse (she even had blood/mucus in her stools) she’s now on thickener in her milk which has helped but she still drinks little and often 2 oz every 2 hours. After spending a night being monitored in hospital the only reason they said they don’t think it’s CMPA was because she never had a rash or dry skin.

Hi ladies, what is a CMPA rash like? My little one has been really struggling with wind and gas lately, I brought some drops from the pharmacy yesterday that broke down the lactose in the milk and within the hour he had done 3 poos and was like a new baby! He’s recently been really spotty on his face and chest and I was told it was baby acne now wondering if it’s this x
