Weaning

Those weaning already is your baby sitting up yet and how much food are they eating? Mine seems keen but pushes most of the food out with his tongue but fusses and cries when he sees's any of us eating. He's been trying to sit up for awhile now and he can roll front to back and back to front very well and does happily roll all over the room and reaches for and grips onto toys effectively.

That is the thrust reflex which normally goes away around 4 to 6 months and when that's gone and baby can sit then you can start weaning. My baby is 5 months and 2 weeks old, I'll wait until she turns 6 months just to make sure her guy bio is ready. If yours has this reflex still, wait until he loses it. To help with fussiness, maybe you can give him some mashed food with your finger? Maybe that can help as opposed to giving him chunks of food like one would do if following BLW.

Tongue trust reflex should be largely gone before weaning. They really need to be sitting quite well too to minimise the risk of choking. Sounds like he's showing some signs of readiness for weaning but isn't quite there yet. My LG sits well with support only, and brings things to her mouth but still has a strong tongue thrust reflex so wouldn't start yet.

Thanks Ladies I agree

Mine is desperate to eat our food but I am waiting for 6 months to make sure her digestive system is ready for it. I have been putting her in the high chair at mealtime with her plate and cutlery in front of her but often have to take her out as she is so frustrated at not eating our food 😅

i’ve been doing purées for a couple weeks but going to start solids / blw in a couple days now. she sits well but doesn’t roll.
