Changing Nipple Flow

Hi all! Question for you - when did you all change from flow 1 to flow 2 nipples for baby? My 3 m/o is taking 2.5 oz and waking up every 1-2 hours because she falls asleep drinking that bottle, regardless of a diaper change. If I do more than 2.5 oz she will fall asleep before finishing the bottle and it will go to waste. Did changing to a faster flow impact breastfeeding at all for the combo feeders out there? Thanks in advance!

I changed mine around 3 months to size 2 teat

@Lauren thanks! did you have any issues with the switch or did baby take to the new teat fine?

Also changed mine at 3 months. I found she was choking a lot because it’s a faster flow but I held the bottle horizontally so that the flow came out slower till she got used to it. I also was combi feeding and didn’t it change anything 🥰

I transitioned from using 1 and 2 from 2 months. So he's using both. And then I will swap out the 1 to 3 when he's 4 months. Just so its not too fast straight away.

At 4 months was combo feeding I tried to change from 1 to 2 but baby struggle with 2 so went back to 1. We also tried the X/variable flow which is supposed to help good for breast fed babies. Used tomme tippee, but I think mam does them too.

@Alvina took a few days for her to get used to it x

Asked heal baby care app and sharing in case it helps: "It's common for babies to fall asleep while feeding, especially at that age. Many parents switch from flow 1 to flow 2 nipples around 3 to 4 months, as babies often become more efficient at feeding and may need a faster flow to keep them awake and engaged. If your baby is waking frequently, you might consider trying the flow 2 nipples to see if it helps her take in more milk before falling asleep. As for breastfeeding, some combo feeders find that a faster flow can lead to confusion for the baby, but many manage well by ensuring they offer the breast first when possible. It might be helpful to monitor how she responds to the change and adjust accordingly. Have you noticed any specific patterns in her feeding or sleep that might help us understand her needs better?"
