Anyone ween baby off bottle yet?

My pediatrician recommended we try weaning her off the bottle. They said around 18 months is ideal, so we still have some time. My issue is she will drink from a sippy cup but not as frequently as she wants the bottle. I'm worried about her hydration. How did you guys do it?

Following!! Same problem

We used the Dr. Brown's training bottles. Then introduced sippy cup with milk. That went well for us.

@Brittney she'll drink from a sippy cup at meals and sometimes other times, but if I just give her a sippy cup with milk she's less likely to drink it than when I give her a bottle

I start introducing a “sippy cup” with a straw around 6 months and when she made a year we had a time to get her to go straight sippy but Everytime it was time for her bottle we gave the sippy cup and eventually got it.

I did the same as @Waltnyshia just not as early but we changed her bottles for straw cups I’d feed her her milk in the cups during meal time and then go and hold her and give her the rest of the “bottle” from the cup we transitioned one by one morning first then lunch then dinners now she just has the cups at meal times and has a water cup with her all day for whenever she needs

My son would only use the nuk soft sippy cups for awhile he is just done getting around useing other brands and different tips

An open cup or straw cup is the best for their developing palette

Yes 🙌 mines have been off since 12 months I started with transitional cups so it will still be like a rubber nipple, but then like after a while, she started biting holes in them so I just started getting like the hard sippy cups and that’s what she’s been using every since

I would give my son a sippy for breakfast and lunch and dinner but he wouldn’t always want it I gave him his bottle once you keep introducing the sippy cup she will eventually take it my son is 14months old now he takes just the sippy cup just keep introducing the cup with meals also I use NUK sippy cups try those if you haven’t yet

Hi! Like @Brittney, we also weaned with Dr brown sippy cups. Ours no longer takes bottles after about a month transitioning to sippy cups. Every kiddo is different tho!!

My son is the same. I had bought some 360 and straw cups but he didn’t drink much from those and would cough after taking a drink all the time. When I bought the nuk sippy cup he loved drinking from those and then I never had to give him a bottle again. He’s almost 15 months

At 6 months I went to the dr browns straw bottles then at 12 months I fully switched. She kept chewing the soft spout and ripping them.

I use Philips Avent glass bottles. I still use the bottle but I changed the nipples to sippy ones with weight straws and handles at around 7 months and my baby has been drinking sitting up since then. And I changed the sippy into straws tops(? I guess I shouldn’t call them nipples and they are adaptable with the bottles). The transition is smooth.

My son has been completely off the bottle since 11 1/2 months. I did a transition around 8-9 months of juice and water in sippy cups or out of a straw and only milk in bottles and he caught the flu about a week before he turned 1 and didn’t want formula anymore after that so we completely got rid of bottles at that point now everything is cups or sippy cups most of the time he just drinks from my spout cup or from my cup with a straw

First off the bottle using straw and cup 12 months, 2nd off bottle at 13 months and using straw and cup. Now he just uses a normal kid yeti water bottle. Kids are a lot more capable at this age they can skip the sippy cup completely.
