I have my baby had really bad constipation 3+ days a bad rash and would constantly cry he also had been losing weight rapid a cold that wouldn’t go away and sneezing constantly I had suspected it since he was 3 days old and everyone doctors midwife’s and health visitors and at 5 weeks a GP said she thought it may be a milk allergy gave me the prescription milk as I was combi feeding 4 days later things where getting better but cold was still really bad took him to out of hour the doctor there looked at him said that’s not a milk allergy put him back on regular milk so we did and after 2 days he was back to being in agony so I said enough was enough spoke to my original GP got more of the allergy milk put him back on that. And my health visitor said Because we have basically done our own milk ladder she is happy to refer us to the dietitian now x

My little boy has just been out on aptamil Pepti but I don’t think he’s got cmpa, but they want to rule it out so we have to try it, but he gets constipated and will cry constantly

Looking at the previous comment, my little boy seems bunged up of a night, and he sneezes a lot in the day!

@Hayley my baby is often really congested but the last week has been really, especially after a feed. She’s come out in a rash but the GP said viral infection but I’m not convinced. She always seems to be uncomfortable and feeding her is a nightmare, she squirms and fights the bottle but is crying cos she’s hungry. She does seem to have silent reflux which were on Gaviscon for. It seems to help with the swallowing and acid but not the other symptoms. I’m thinking of asking for some hypoallergenic milk but I’ve heard it’s horrible and some babies refuse it. She already only eats about 19-20oz a day so her eating less could cause a whole new problem 😩😩

My baby doesn’t seem to mind the milk he’s on the apatmil pepti but the GP told me if baby refused it there is something you can put in it. I would definitely try baby on it and if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work. If the doctor doesn’t give you it you can get it in Asda and online and if it does work after a few days go back to the doctor and say I’ve been giving baby this and look how better they are and they should give you it. It’s one of the most common allergies in kids but the hardest to get diagnosed

@Hayley you can’t get aptamil pepti in supermarkets it has to be prescribed, you can’t even buy it from a pharmacy until they’re a certain age x

@Hayley hi, I know for a fact you can’t buy trust me I tried when we ran out when my little boy was little, even pharmacists will tell you you can’t especially not at Asda

@Natalya hi im not trying to fight with you but I can 100% say I have picked it up in Asda they don’t stock lots there was maybe 5 small tins on the self but it was there maybe the rules are different in England but I can promise you I picked this up from Asda Dumbarton in Scotland

Bear in mind the way Scotland and England’s health services runs is very different from example you pay for prescription we don’t.

@Hayley ahh I didn’t know you were in Scotland, in England it has to be prescribed which is shit because when my little boy was on it there was a shortage so it would’ve been ideal if you could buy it because the pharmacies never had it in!

@Natalya ahh I knew we must have been getting our wires crossed!! Yeah it’s awful I think because you pay for prescription and we don’t they must need a way to make money. So they do sell it

@Hayley we don’t have to pay for it if they’re under 16 luckily, but honestly once he reached a certain age they let us buy it I think it was after 4 or 6 months which I thought was weird but you couldn’t literally only buy it from certain pharmacies and you had to ask for it xx

@Natalya ahhh see are pharmacy are completely free regardless is you 1 month or 98 but the catch is 99.9% of pharmacy is behind the counter

@Hayley my little boy still gets it for free even though he’s 22 months because our dietician is keeping him on it as he’s getting tested for autism and has sensory issues so he struggles eating xx
