Twins potty training

Really struggling with my twin potty training. I’m only on day 2 and I know I need to give them and my self some grace but im just finding it really hard dealing with the peeing everywhere. I’ve took the nappy off them since they’ve woken up yesterday and today, and put trousers on them, or at times I’ll keep them naked waist down. They get it sometimes where they’ll either run to the toilet or tell me they need to pee but mostly they’ll pee on their pants/floor. They’re both different. Twin 1 - she’s peeing every 10 mins (or less at times) so I’m not able to keep up with her peeing on herself or the floor or the toilet - she’ll pee minutes apart... There is no pattern what so ever so she’s so unpredictable. She’s more intuitive though and will tell me sometimes she needs the toilet or will run to the toilet but that’s probably twice or three times that’s happened. Twin 2 - she doesn’t pee often, and she’s had a lot of fluid so I’m not sure what’s going with her. She’s also had plenty of accidents, whether with trousers on or naked waist down. Literally as I’m typing this, they both peed on themselves. I’m having to swap both of them of the toilet seat and I’m in and out the toilet ALL THE FLIPPING TIME. I’ve been putting off potty training for a long time for this exact reason that it’s just so tough and I hate it. Not sure if I’m doing the right thing. Each time I look into it or ask someone they tell me something new so I’m fed up with it.

We did straight to pant. 3 days we had 100% accidents then it seemed to click Keep the pants on. More washing sure but less mess everywhere else, especially with 💩 It’s tough (more with two!) but stick with it. Our LO can go 2-4 hours so along time isn’t a big issue x

@Cal I’ve ran out of pants at this point, mind you I have loads of them. When I’ve noticed they’re straining for a poo, I’ll literally pick them up and run to the toilet and managed to get it that way but one is also pood on the floor. After the third day, what shift did you notice? Would your boy come and tell you?

Maybe (for you sanity) try potty training one at a time? You may find the other one follows? X

I’ve always trained twins one at a time, although I’ve only trained 2 lots of twins so I’m not an expert. And I’m really pro when the child is ready, or doing things to try get them ready, like getting them to dress themselves (pushing down and pulling up own trousers), hand washing, wiping own face, communicating needs etc, just gets them more confident in taking care of their own self care and I think that helps massively once you do finally go to pants and toilet xx

@Amira yup. Day three he just said “I need the toilet” and went! 🤯 The big toilet too, (we got a family flip down toilet seat) not the potty. From then on it was 90% success. We still get the odd accident when tired though. (Started between Christmas & New Year) x

@Tanya was thinking of this this morning but the thought of having to do this all over again with the second twin woke me up bcos it’s tough 😭

@Allana I didn’t think of splitting the task to two till this morning, and they’re good in putting their own trousers on and washing their hands and they want to be independent but now that I started I don’t want to start all over again with the other twin later on 😭 Idk what a ready child looks like bcos my daughters are a piece if work.

@Cal tomorrow is day 3, let’s see what happens but I really hope the shift happens. I don’t mind the odd incident here and there but right now they don’t seem like they’ll pick it up anytime soon.

They’ll get there. You’re doing great! Definitely the hardest milestone by far (I think so anyway) xx

@Cal thank you! You did amazing by getting it over and done with. Is he night trained too? Also, agreed. I’ve put it off for such a long time and I’m feeling the exact feeling I’ve been avoiding.

@Amira nope. Not tackled nights yet. The covers we can deal with but if the duvet gets saturated… 😬 So definitely waiting for warmer nights (sheets only) on that front x
