Baths!

ladies, i had a natural vaginal birth, but suffered tears and needed stitches, they told me to wait 2 weeks before having a bath (i’ve had showers don’t worry i do wash 🤣) but it’s been nearly 3 weeks, my son will be 3 weeks on wednesday, and i’m still scared to have one in case my stitches haven’t fully healed, any advice? (i don’t see my health visitor till may 10th!)

I had natural birth and had 4th degree tear. I waited a few weeks before having a bath, I took my time, made sure it was warm, was alittle painful at first but it went well after that. Good luck x

I had a 2nd degree tear and had a bath the first week of being home and was fine🙈 just didn't wash my hair or have bubble bath in c

I had an episiotomy and had a bath I think 2/3 weeks after birth I did actually get told 6 weeks but I had no problems with my stitches so decided to have one and was fine. Just like Elizabeth said no bubbles or anything x

I’d wait just in case! I waited until five weeks!!

My midwife said it’s fine as long as it’s not too hot. I started having baths 3 weeks pp. I had an episiotomy x

i had a 2nd degree tear with my first and had a bath within a few days - it was glorious!

I had a natural birth and had stitches and wasn't told I couldn't have a bath 🙄I'm nearly 3 weeks postpartum and I've had about 3 baths a week with no issues. I used bath salts and didn't have the water too hot x

I had a natural birth with a 2nd degree tear and I had a bath the first day home 😅 was totally fine. I also had herbal baths and I think I healed pretty quickly comparetively . I was having herbal baths every other day

I think I waited 5 or 6 weeks but I had an infection and took longer to heal. I had extra checks on mine and they said it was fine to by that time.

Natural birth too with 3rd degree tear. I was advised by midwife to wait an additional 2 weeks so 4 in total. Do ask midwife/ nurse to check your stitches if you feel you haven't healed Completely. Otherwise should be no issues. Personally I used salts and even bath bombs and no issues thankfully.

With my first I had a 3rd degree tear and has a bath the next day when I got home😂

I had 4th degree tear and 3 weeks post partum I was advised not to have a bath for the first 6 weeks to allow proper healing

Just dont put anything in the bath and avoid washing your hair in it x

I had a c section and had a bath the day I got home

I had an episiotomy and was able to bath 3-4 days after using salts twice a day. Did this for the first 6 weeks and when my scar occasionally gets uncomfortable now I still feel a bath helps, nearly 9 months PP.

I had an episiotomy and the midwives actually ran me a bath after birth in the hospital so…🤷🏼‍♀️

Does anyone know if you ever go back to normal down there even after episiotomy ?

@Sade yes I went back completely normal & didn’t tear once with my second child!

I was told I had to wait 6 weeks for a bath, but a quick shower was fine. 2nd degree tear not sure if it makes a difference

Thank you everyone for your inputs! it was a 2nd degree test, with an extra smaller one! might get it checked first just in case! better to be safe than sorry x

I had stitches and because of the anxiety chose to wait until they healed/naturally dissolved
