First milk starter kits…

Was planning on getting some to go in my hospital bag, but the midwife said if I plan on breast feeding to not bother with getting any as I will have colostrum for those first few days but I thought they were good as back up. Just wondered what everyone else is doing?

I’m bringing some for just in case. I feel like they’re good to have bc birth so unpredictable you might be drowsy from the drugs which makes you unable to feed in that moment so at least your birthing partner can give baby a bottle.

I’ve packed some just incase because I don’t want to feel super pressured to nail breastfeeding in a hospital environment!

I have bought some kendamil formula with teets on them just in case! I think it’s all well and good with a plan but I’m someone who would rather have back ups as you really don’t know what can happen! Also the dates usually last quite a while on them :)

I don't think I'll be taking any as I don't want an excuse to not push through with breast feeding. Hoping to also have some colostrum with us so hopefully baby will be fine either way.

Im not bothering taking any

Not taking some 'just in case'. Newborns need so little in the first couple of days, and I'm staying positive that I'll be able to provide even a little. The ward also have formula. XxX

I took some with my first with the same mindset and never used it

I took some with my first and also never used it, I'm pretty sure the hospital provide milk in the super special case that they were concerned about a breastfeeding mum not being able to feed for some reason. They of course expect you to take your own if your whole plan is to formula feed but if your plan is BF they can provide if something becomes an issue or you can send your partner/friend/family out to grab some.

Mines already packed I didn’t produce any milk not even a drop with the last 2 I had and I don’t think I will this time round x

My son had a severe tongue tie which meant he couldn't latch at all, so I'd recommend having some bottles as a backup. It's not an excuse not to push through if the baby has an issue that means they physically cannot breastfeed.
