It’s not recommended because it’s unknown wether the medicine passes through breast milk..it’s not worth it imo in case it did go through to your baby, id just stick out the next year or however long you plan to breastfeed and then start after ☺️
I feel like it wouldn't technically hurt the baby, BUT the grugs suppress your appetite which isn't something you want to do while breastfeeding as it will affect your supply. Just wait until you're done
@Shay yea one study I saw said it wasn’t detectable in breast milk. Appetite suppressant sounds great tho right about now though I have enough in my butt my lo will survive lol
Lol 😂 my old PCP actually recommended it for me to start 3 months postpartum. It was too expensive then so I declined. His rationale was that the drug doesn't lower blood sugar for non diabetics do the baby so be fine.
But nooooo, I would wait unless you are eating over 1k extra claories per day. Unless you're a overproducer, you only need an additional 500-750 cals per dya to make breastmilk. I like this calculator to detect the caloric intake for pregnant and/or breastfeeding moms. It even tells you the minimum calories to eat to maintain milk supply. https://www.thelactationnutritionist.com/calorie-calculator If you're overeating, then I'd talk to your PCP and pediatrician about it.
I think it’s a no-no. Which bums me out 😝
