Following as also keen to bf and pump. Most are telling me to not pump until 6 weeks to establish bf, but open to thoughts.
everyone is different so try things out and see what works for you, all I can say is I didn’t like the latching part so I exclusively pump and feed through bottles. When my supply first came in it was an oversupply so it was easy to prep bottles making things smoother but I weened off of it and started again and now use formula and breastmilk by pumping after he eats and storing it in bottles for the next feed which works if you can make enough for the feedings.
you will need to feed/pump to their schedule and to increase supply it helps to pump and empty your breast out
Everyone is so different but it all depends on what works for you. You can give breastfeeding a go and see how you feel after a few weeks. I personally didn't like it - from latching to extremely sore nipples, blocked ducts and a harsh flow. My son used to cry during feeds and it impacted my mental health. My life changed when I started pumping and bottle feeding. Yes it's tedious but you get so used to a quick 20 minute pump every 3-4 hours and bottle feeds go so quick whereas breastfeeding was taking a lot longer (babies use the boob for comfort and to sleep too). So it all depends on how breastfeeding makes you feel and if it feels comfy for you. Pumping becomes easy after a few months of doing so - feel free to dm me if you ever want pumping tips. Otherwise all the best on your journey! Many moms breastfeed smoothly so I hope it all works out.
I tried to feed and pump in the beginning and I really did find it so exhausting that I just stopped pumping and just directly breast fed. I found feeding my son and then staying up to pump for an extra half an hour after was just too much. I started to enjoy breastfeeding once I gave up pumping but everyone is different. I’d say give whatever you want a go and just see how you find it. Good luck and enjoy ❤️
@Millie this is probably a stupid question as I'm FTM to be... But can you breastfeed on one boob and attach pump to other instead of doing separate? Or is that too much xx

I would personally try just breastfeeding first it is possible to and not worry about pumping in the beginning. I had issues with feeding so I had to pump, breastfeed, and feed baby bottles and it was exhausting. You can also just pump one day after a feed before you go out then you will have a bottle and pump while away from baby
