Balancing life with expressing breast milk

Hi, I am expressing breast milk as my little boy who is 4 weeks wasn't latching onto the boob. I am expressing 5/6 times per day but the health visitor advised to increase this to 10-12 times per day. However, I'm trying to find the time to do this as well as balancing life with looking after an 18 month old too. Also, if I try to express sooner than I am doing already I get hardly any milk. Does anyone have any tips please? Thanks in advance

I think it depends on how much you’re able to pump in a session? If you managed to get like 8-10oz each session then I don’t think you’d need to express 10-12 times.

Can you express when your feeding the newborn? You can also get mobile ones you just put in your bra that don’t need to be held? You only need to sterilize once a day and just wash in warm soapy water in between each session. Also did you have the infant feeding team come round to your home to help with lo’s latch and check for tongue tie etc?

@Bijal 8-10oz from each boob or all together per session?

@Karen the feeding team is a good shout tbh, they said he didn't have tongue tie in hospital when they did all his newborn checks but advice from the feeding team could help, thank you!
