Any good back support? Belly binding help!

My baby is 8 days old now. He is heavy (well at least for me he is heavy) I can only hold him if someone gives him to me and I’ve got back support (chair/bed). I can’t really pick him up and walk much as my whole upper back will be in pain the rest of the day. I am not that interested in belly bands (heard mixed reviews) but I have now heard some are good for ur back/back support. With belly bands/binding I’ve heard it pushes ur pelvic floor the wrong way or ur bladder and uterus doesn’t go back properly ur forcing it etc Some are saying it’s the type of material used- traditional binding with a cloth is far better compared to a one piece with hooks or Velcro. Any research/help/suggestions/recommendations welcome. Thank you!!! :)

It could be symptoms from the epidural. I had back pain but in my lower back. And my baby was heavy too so I understand. I did use the hospital belly binder the material was more breathable and soft. Make sure you’re keeping ur body warm and drinking warm drinks idk if it’ll help but warm foods helped me tremendously. C-sections are so tough😭take ur time healing friend

@Justine I didn’t have an epidural- but I had a spinal block. My hospital didn’t offer anything :( Apart from lucozade sport all my drinks are warm including water:) thank you I have just feeling under the weather - aching body with a slight cough. Coughing is rough!!

Oh yeah absolutely. I would lightly push my abdomen against a pillow to cough.

Asked heal baby care app and sharing in case it helps: "It sounds like you're navigating a challenging situation with your recovery and caring for your newborn. For back support, consider using a supportive baby carrier designed to distribute weight evenly, which can help alleviate some strain on your back while allowing you to move around more freely. Regarding belly bands, while some women find them helpful for back support, it's essential to choose one that is breathable and provides gentle compression without being too restrictive. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, it's crucial to listen to your body; if you feel discomfort, it may not be the right choice for you. Have you had a chance to discuss your back pain with a healthcare provider, or have you tried any specific exercises or stretches to help strengthen your back?"
