Bath time

Hey everyone, My 4 month old has been getting a bath everyday for the past 2 weeks but today we heard that we shouldn’t be doing that because it dries out their skin. He does seem to have eczema but baths calm him down at night and we want to set a bedtime routine with him. Just wondering how often you give your babies baths and how old they are?

My daughter typically gets a bath every other day or when she’s dirty. If he has eczema badly then I would try every other day just to see how it does. It may not make a difference though. What kind of body wash have you been using if you don’t mind me asking

@Samantha we use honest but I want to try switching to tubby todd

When my son was 3-4 weeks old old he had a bath a week and if was messy. But as he got older it went to 2 a week to every other day ( Sunday , Tuesday and Thursday)

Also find a lotion that works for them. My husband and I try to do a bath at least every 3 days and we have been putting lotion on after he is dry. This is the lotion I use: Rainbow Research Baby Oh Baby Body Lotion, Unscented

so yea bathing them everyday takes away the protective layer of skin that they have (i think that’s the right way to put it) my son is 4 months and bathe him every other 4x a week (sunday, monday, wednesday, and friday) i added in sunday cause he started purees and was drooling a lot

If anything what you can do is give a full bath one night then the next night give a light sponge bath so he still gets that bath time means bedtime. That’s what I do with my daughter bc honestly that’s the only way she’ll sleep comfortably through the night. And she’s 4 months old as well

Mine is almost 2 and gets a bath every other day unless she's had a big poop, or played outside (she doesn't play outside everyday) we live in the desert currently and weather is unpredictable and she doesn't go to daycare or any public place with alot of kids around. I know alot of people would generally say kids are dirty and need baths everyday but it depends on their lifestyles. She gets lotioned head to toe after each bath as well.

My baby is 4 months and gets a bath every other day, unless needed before hand

I have been doing a bath everyday with my 5mo since his umbilical cord came off. We just lather in lotion after and he is just fine. Dr said as long as there is no new dry patches then it’s totally okay to bathe everyday. I use soap every other day tho, so just water one day and the next a full head to toe soap wash down

I give my baby a bath 2-3 times a week depending on if I have him around people or I just feel he needs one. If you want to prevent extra drying if it’s a day your baby isn’t out it’s fine to just do a sponge bath in a sense only getting the areas that are really needed. Or maybe even put breast milk in the water

Mine is 2 months old and if i can’t get him to calm down i give him a bath, even if I don’t use soap I just let him sit in the water with me. I use soap every other day or if he’s really messy and just lather him in lotion

My daughter is 21 months and has had a bath every night since a few weeks old. It’s part of her bed time routine. We moisturise with a little massage afterwards before she gets her pyjamas on.

We do every other night, I used to bath them every night then found out that’s why my little girls skin was so dry but every other day is recommended or when dirty, usually just a quick wash with a sponge is fine between baths x
