Pessary

Working through birth trauma and trying to come to terms with/understand what I experienced as I was neglected quite a bit. One thing that’s been playing on my mind is I was told to remove the Pessary myself as she forgot to come check me (I had to go find her in the corridor..) she said she had other things to do so just pull it out myself.. is this normal?

I'm sorry this has been your experience. From what I understand is that you had a pessary to help rippen your cervix to induce labor? Regardless, she should have come to check on you and the baby and helped you take it out.

I was told to take it out myself, I thought that was normal. But the midwife came to check me, told me to go toilet and take it out, then to come back and she did a cervix exam to see if it had made any changes

Are you UK? Id definitely recommend a feedback session with your consultant, and do a PALS report if you feel like it. I also got my birth partner to talk me through events repeatedly, and talk him through my version of things, because that's what i felt i needed. I didnt have a pessary so can't comment on your main query, sorry

I had the pessary with both my children ( 3 and a half and 6 months) to induce labour and both times the nurse/midwife that was dealing with me came and took mine out xx

Yeah the pessary for me was just like on a string so it was normal to just pull out myself. I didn’t feel I needed someone else to come near me to remove it x
