sibling help

We had our little one exactly a week ago! Our first born (2.5 yrs old) boy has been struggling with toileting the last couple of weeks. We know regressions can happen, but he will no longer tell us when he needs a poo to the point where it does almost seem sudden and almost every time now just poos in his pants. today we thought he was doing better but after his bath he leant over my husband (child was naked) and just wee'd all over my husband. He reacted by shouting which isn't helpful but understandable. Now my child is so upset but I just don't know how to manage the situation. I'm only 7 days postpartum and quite hormonal!!

Honestly sounds like a regression. If he's completely taken a step back I would just put him in nappies again only because it will save the trouble of shouting (understandable) so that child won't be negatively effected after such a change in dynamics which they are still getting used to. Then when things settle doen hopefully it will be easy for you to retrain him. X

I had this issue when we were going through load of changes I spent one to one time with him for about a week and every 30min-1hour asked him if he needed to use the toilet and if it went over few hours I would say let’s go toilet nicely and won’t give him the option not to go. Basically I kind of reapplied my initial training method again over 1 week. Kept asking and encouraging him to go toilet. I didn’t give up and it it get better in about 3 days

They want attention now he has a sibling and his doing it again I’m trying to stay cool and keep reminding him to go toilet in the nicest way

thank you both will spend more time time and go back to basics with prompting! just got to know i'm not the only one xx
