Nappy changes

For those whose babies are crawling and close to walking. Are nappy changes a massive screaming, alligator rolling battle for you too? How do you help it? The only thing that calms my little girl is giving her a snack during nappy change but I don’t want to have to get her into a habit of this for every change. I try and change her wee nappies while she’s stood as she’s happy with this but if she’s pooped, I can’t change her stood up as she sits down once the nappy is off and I don’t want her to smear it all on the carpet 😅

Would a toy help? My LG has only just started fighting it, but normally passing her a toy / clean nappy/ pack of wipes or one of her socks / shoes or something normally distracts her long enough

@Jenny it used to work but sadly not anymore. Sometimes it works for a moment or 2 but not for the whole nappy change 😅

@Lea oh no, I assume my LO will head this way too 😬

I give mine my phone, when that starts getting boring, I'll take the batteries out the tv controller and give her that! Anything she usually isn't allowed😂 x

I moved to nappy pants specifically for that reason 😆 some changes are a breeze but others can be very challenging and I end up pulling her nappy pants up while she's standing 😂 poops are a whole different story though 😬 sometimes I'm lucky and she stays on her back the whole time while holding something, e.g., a toy or a pack of wipes, but often times it requires her dad to hold her or distract her with a video of dancing fruits on his phone 🙊 I try not to give her my phone to hold herself because a few years back her brother dropped my phone into the poop and I'm still not fully over it 😂😂😂 so we just take it one nappy change at a time here 😂 it will get easier! x

@Monika I used pull up nappies but it’s the poo 😳 I video might work but we are trying not to do screen time/ phones. She only gets a very short time with dancing fruits when I’m cutting her nails 😅

I tend to put her tights/trousers or a blanket on my head & playing pretending im looking for it, i lean down a bit closer and she pulls it off giggling saying again so i do that takes a bit more effort on my behalf but she stays put xxx

Singing, blowing raspberries on her tummy and tickling her feet to make her giggle before I start usually helps a bit, but sometimes I just have to pin her down with one leg and do it as quick as possible 🙈

@Lauren this is my go to when she won't keep still 😂 she's lying it between my legs I've got a foot on either arm 😂

@Mia this is my go to now aswell

I give my little one my watch to play with! I then go into a full blown F1 crew member at a pit stop.

I have baby sideways & use one leg over his chest to hold him down. He cries but I just do it as fast as I can. Using pull ups too.

I bought the wriggler changing mat. It’s really helped. He doesn’t like getting strapped in but then he settles and is quite happy x
