Same! My son will refuse formula, but if water or solids are offered he will go crazy for it 🥴 I'm doing my best to make sure he has at least 600mls over 24 hours (NHS guidance for 7-9 month olds). I'm offering a bottle roughly every three hours after his previous meal (food or milk). My weaning book has always said to offer milk after the solids, my boy does best if I wait about an hour before offering a bottle and he usually has about 90-160mls (sometimes more for reasons unknown to me 😅). Also, I can generally get a good idea by his dirty nappies and the consistency. If it's getting thicker I offer more milk less solids, but if the nappy is all normal I carry on as I am! Sorry for the long reply. I hope some of that is useful! X
Msg me if you think your baby might have a bottle aversion. Not sure if he is breast fed or not but I've had a similar problem which was not weaning related so happy to help xx
@Aimee thank god it’s not just me 😂 it’s really making me worried, sometimes he’ll have 230ml but most of the time it’s a lot less or complete refusal! I was doing every 3 hours but I’ve started stretching to 4, doesn’t seem to have made much difference though! Our weaning book says food first too, but HV says milk! Neither have helped tbh, if anything he has less food after the milk x Just worried about him being dehydrated in this weather! Trying to give a bit more water and hoping it’s just the teething! Thank you xx
@Beth I don’t think he has….he’s formula fed and always took it well until now! Is it something they can develop? X
Yeh. Mine did, but if in your heart you don't feel like it's that it probably isn't. You'd tell because there's certain behaviours such as going while without feeds then only taking a few sips/ oz and turning away, arching away and crying, pushing teat out with tongue or playing with it. These behaviours can also cross over with normal baby stuff though xx
