Anyone left baby with relative for the day yet?

So we're thinking of leaving baby with mother in law for a couple hours (5 hours maybe), just so we can get chores done, sort house out, do admin etc and have a baby break. Have other people done this? I have major mum guilt! He is comfortable with her and she can get him down for a nap but will be his first time at hers on his own. I feel like he will be OK just feel bad. Anyone else done this already?

I think this is a great idea! It’s important to build that trust with your MIL and allow yourself some space :) it’s a positive thing in my opinion and your taking the time to make sure bubba is left with someone who you trust .. which is great xx

Oh yes! Felt bad and weird the first time and was so excited to see baby after the evening was over. But I am so glad and my mother has taken my baby a fair few times and has been great breather/reset/me-time which is also important for my mental health. It is also a great bonding for baby and grandparents. My little one loves spending time with them and he’s very sociable now.

I have left my boy with MIL for 5 kit days now, so leaving him up to 9ish hours at a time and its been absolutely fine x We just build it up gradually, she would come often then take him on walks, then for a couple of hours, half day, then full days x I'm back to work next month for 3 days a week and she'll be looking after him then too 😊
