Nursery settling in

My little boy had his first settling in session at nursery today. He went in super happy playing started playing with some toys, come and showed me once then went off and didn’t come back. After about 15 mins of him playing I left the room to see if he would look for me. He was ok for 10 mins then couldn’t find me and was very upset that they come and got me and brought me back to him settle him. Once I settled him and he was back of playing he kept checking to see if I was still there then after a while he stopped checking but they said that was enough and to leave when we was ready and to try again tomorrow. Have anyone’s else LO’s been like this? How long did it take them to settle in and what did you do to help? He really loved it there and played with all the different toys and took part in some of the activities they had set up he just wanted me to be there in the background to?

I think this is normal. 😁 We are doing ours on Thursday and I have read and heard very similar experiences like that of yours 😁 Most people say it takes 2 or 3 tries and they are good. But all kids are different. In the end, they will settle in and this will all be forgotten quickly. 🤗

This is normal. My boy loves his nursery but as soon as he see me or dad he hates the place The girls in his room say he’s a happy little boy who is into everything but on drop off and pick up you can’t tell that . They will settle but it might take a couple of weeks to do so

Our nursery recommended we always say that we are leaving (and when we will come back) rather than sneak out. Otherwise I think they get upset as they expect you to be there then suddenly you aren’t. They might get upset when you leave but often settle quite quickly after you are out of sight.
