High Park Cherry Blossom Outing?

Hi fellow Toronto mamas! I thought it could be fun to get a group of us together to go for a stroller walk in High Park one weekday and see the cherry blossoms once they are in bloom. Maybe even grab a coffee/tea at the Grenadier Cafe afterwards. Looks like the flowers could potentially bloom over the next week or so… Let me know if you’re interested, and once they are blooming we can quickly lock in a date 😊

Sounds like a lovely idea, I’d love to do this but not sure I could make it. Depends on the date.

I wouldn’t, at least night high park. People are rude and gross and will rip the flowers off the tree. And tbh it’s a lot of Indians that go and trash the parks and are rude when trying to take photos etc - hopefully it’s changed a bit but it’s more stressful than peaceful going to see them.

I would love to join!

Yess!

Interested! 🙋🏽‍♀️

@Jasmine wow imagine a person of colour like myself making the same comment you just did and said “it’s a lot of white people that go and trash the parks and are rude” are we all just going to pretend this comment is not incredibly inappropriate?

@Marny okay, I am too. It would be different if I was lying but I’m not. I never said it was every Indian in Toronto that makes a gross mess. I said a lot are Indians there that create a mess by ripping the flowers off the tree, being rude. I’d say this anyone any one of gender or colour if that’s what the truth is. My daughter is of colour as am I and I’ll be very honest about my own culture as well. My best friend is Indian, lives in Brampton and I go to large Indian parties all the time, they are polite and well behaved per the setting. Not everything is racist and offensive, sometimes people just don’t like the truth.

@Marny ohh don’t worry I reported the profile the minute I saw the comment. No need to get in the face of such people. Their karma will catch up to them.

@Marny fun fact. I’m Chinese, Indigenous and Irish. My daughter is Korean, Chinese and Irish, my partner is Chinese and Vietnamese - but sure; keep up with this thinking. That’s what’s harming society. Also it’s gross of you to assume what I am just because I don’t look a certain way to you.

I’m interested but weekdays don’t work as I work Monday to Friday

There is also a cute little Zoo. Kids are fascinated by Llamas, Highland Calf, Peacock, Emu (!!!), some Goats, Yak, Capybara.

@Kali thanks for sharing, where did you find this online, how do I join the group to see future events also?

@Kay I am in bunch of mommy groups in Facebook. Look up group called Toronto Hiking Moms

@Kali thanks for sharing, what a cool FB group. I’m not able to make it to this Thursday’s walk, but have joined the group 😊

@Kali thanks! I don’t have FB but good to know, if you know any groups on the meetup app please let me know
