What’s your stance on giving chocolate?

I was totally against it I felt toddlers this age didn’t really need to eating that type of stuff yet and I wanted to delay it. She still has crisps like Skips or Quavers but I tended to give fruit, raisins, yoghurt or toddler snacks from the Tesco section. I’ve had passive aggressive comments at me about being a bit mean not letting her have chocolate and I folded so at Easter weekend she was bought 1 egg with mini buttons and gifted 2 more. So just wondering what do you do?

My little boy isn’t a huge chocolate fan but he’s got CMPA so I’m assuming it’s because dairy free chocolate isn’t as sweet as normal chocolate. However he got 11 dairy free Easter eggs (I didn’t get him one) and I have no idea how he’s having them all before they go out of date😂 I was debating making rice crispy cakes with them and having it myself and then putting them in pancakes like chocolate chips every once in a while

@Natalya that’s a good idea! I feel annoyed at myself for giving in but part of me thinks she’s been give 5 small buttons at a time so it’s really not that deep 😂

My daughter has had one chocolate coin at Christmas and one mini lindt bunny for Easter. I'm not dead set against her having chocolate but honestly she has enough energy without a sugar rush 😅

I only gave my daughter her first bit at Christmas, and I got a small pot of tiny chocolate buttons, which we give 5-10 at a time (more like chocolate chips than buttons in size). She was also given 1 Easter egg which we let her have a few bites of, and then we’re keeping as an after dinner treat when we decide. I’ve also done baking with cocoa powder so she’s not entirely ‘chocolate’ free but I don’t like her having it often.

My son had half an egg on Christmas and I ate the rest. It’s a real once in a while treat, however no idea what he has at grandmas house!

We give our daughter chocolate in small amounts - we always offer other snacks before but we’re happy for her to have a minimal amount. I asked family not to get her chocolate for Easter as we got her a small cadburys egg so she got other bits too. She did get a couple of chocolate bits from friends but we’re saving them and giving them in small amounts spread out. I’ve also eaten some 🤣

My June twins have had chocolate only because they have an older sister and holding it off longer is harder. Our oldest only started liking chocolate around 3 yrs old because we held it off so long she didnt like it for ages, lol she only really likes milky buttons or like a chocolate chip biscuit now. Luckily our family all know we prefer little toys or company at Easter so we don't even have excess leftovers!

No it’s definitely not that deep😂😂 least you don’t have to find a way to use 11 dairy free Easter eggs in the next couple of months😂😂😂

Personally if you are ok with skips and quavers then chocolate is not that different (in terms of “junk”). I’m raising my son with the mantra everything is ok in moderation. 🍫🤎
