Tongue Tie

Hi all, My little boy is almost 2 weeks and he has his tongue tie appointment this week. Has anyone had any experience and did it fix feeding issues straight away?

My eldest had a tongue tie snipped at 10w old, my newborn had his done at 26 hours! The improvement was much quicker with my newborn as he hadn't got into bad habits like my eldest had. It can take them a few days to figure out how to use their tongue again, and if you've already got painful nipples from feeding then they can take a while to heal so the pain won't improve immediately.

My girl had it and we clipped her tongue and it was pretty much an instant fix to her latching problem. My pediatrician office was able to just clip it so we didn’t have to go to the specialist it was a few seconds and all good from there

Took about a week and a half for me once it had been fixed.. had to use nipple shields at first as still struggled to latch but pretty much weaned of them now. Have to use them on the odd feed but mostly latches now!

@Sophie hi Sophie, my newborn just had her tongue tie snipped and I wondered whether your baby was really fussy and cried a lot throughout the day after the procedure? She has barely slept and been on me all day!

@Katie I wouldn't say he was any more fussy than normal but he was only a day or two old so still sleeping on me most of the day! But when my eldest had hers cut, she was definitely fussy afterwards, I had to syringe feed her because she was refusing to latch and wasn't having wet nappies.
