Potty training

Thinking of potty training. Do I need to wait until my daughter can tell me she’s done a wee/poo or needs a wee/poo. At the minute she doesn’t and tells me she’s not done a poo because she doesn’t like having her bum changed. We have the step up potty to the toilet and she loves to use it but only remembers when she sees it. Don’t want to start her too early and set us up for failure before we have even begun

Following need some insight too

I didn't rush my LG and only potty trained her last month (aged 2 years 9 months). She was telling me when she'd done poos, but not really wees. I prepped her a bit with potty training books for kids (no more nappies and girls potty time), then just took the plunge. Straight into pants and leggings as well. Had a fair few accidents the first day, so day two onwards I consistently asked her every 20 mins or whether she needed a wee/poo and she eventually started going (probably because she was getting annoyed with me constantly asking her 🤣)

@Joanna yeah my little girl is 2 years 4 months I may wait a little longer and get some toilet training books we can read together and see how we get on! She’s so keen to use the toilet steps and can’t get her off when she’s on but half the time she doesn’t actually go. It’s so tough knowing when to start! How many days did it take you?

Accidents stopped after day four, but I think it's because we left it as late as we did and she wanted to do it. My LG goes to nursery and they reinforced it all as well. She loves the potty, but not keen on the toilet yet. Something for us to work towards!
