Excessive teeth grinding

My one-year-old daughter keeps grinding her teeth all day every day is this sign of something or is it normal? What can we do? Can it affect her teeth?

My son did this for awhile. Eventually just stopped (luckily) found that if it's given attention that it bothers you they will do it more to get a reaction too. So we started ignoring it when he chose to grind his teeth to show he was upset. Doesn't do it anymore. I think it's a common phase and will eventually stop, especially if you ignore any attention to it.

It can be a sign of a slight jaw misalignment like an underbite or something, it’s something to definitely bring up to their dentist so they can give them a look and refer to a orthodontist if needed. I see your daughter is only one so idk if they had their first dentist apt yet. A lot of kids though have slight under or overbites that correct themselves over time so it’s nothing to really stress about even if that’s the case

From what my peds say, it's normal albeit very annoying lol. 🤣 Just something your child figured out and probably likes the sound or feels good on teething days. No it can't affect her teeth bc they are only baby teeth. It would be different if they weren't baby teeth. Like my SD has to sleep with sleep guard bc she grinds her teeth bad at night and can harm her grownup teeth.

Brushing my baby's teeth a couple times a day helped him stop grinding his teeth completely.

@Autumn we did have her dentist appointment! She said her teeth were perfect

@Brianna oooh okay :) my girl doesn’t do it while sleeping just daytime haha

@Emilia yeah, my 1 year old does it during day also that when I brought it up to my peds. But she said it's harmless right now and there's really no way to stop it. 😁 🫠 kinda makes me wanna gag when he does it but he finds it funny. Lmao.
