I firstly topped up with formula, I wasn’t able to have my baby straight away after theatre so they were introduced to formula even though I wanted to breast feed… Any way when fussing at night I did find a formula to ik helped. Now I’ve switched to expressed milk as I found also was using breast for comfort. I have used sunny as well. Also the love to dream swaddle suit makes for a less wriggly and fussy baby at night time for men Good luck xx
Currently having the same issue, ours is 4 days as well and FTM. I did what the others have done and substituted with colostrum or formula. She seems to be a bit better tonight now my milk has come in. She only really wants to sleep on us as well so we’re taking it in turns a bit, hoping it’ll get better
It’s pretty normal in the first few days especially while your milk is coming in, it’s how they try to bring in your supply. They get a bit ‘done’ with the colostrum and are like nope need the milk now. It could be that your milk comes in today/ tomorrow and you’ll find feeds change! You should also have your day 5 appointment so mention to the midwife and they’ll advise, they’ll see if their weight has changed much too. Keep going 🥰 it’s a tough journey breastfeeding xx
Hiya, I have the same problem. My new born is 5 days old today, midwife will be coming later to weigh etc. my milk came in yesterday and I thought things would be easier but she just wants to be on my boob all day and all night. Using it for comfort. And we cannot put her down at all. I’m finding it very difficult because I had a c-section also. I can’t keep getting in and out of bed to put her down and try and practice putting her in the crib.im currently just sitting with her in my arms until partner takes over in a couple of hours.
Completely normal! Now 3 weeks pp and some nights still the same.. wants boob for comfort but not hungry. I top up with expressed milk & this helps
I had the same with mine between days 2-4 (now 11 days old- so not a big expert here) we decided to give myself a break and use a bit of formula overnight and that made wonders, it settled him for a good chunk of 2-2.5 hours. At first I was afraid of losing the latching so I used the syringes I had for the colostrum, then I introduced the bottle. I breastfeed during the day and at night also breastfeed but I stop before he finishes and top up with a bit of formula and it’s working pretty nicely. I’m not sure how you feel about formula and I would still advise to talk to your midwife or breastfeeding team, they might have other tips for you but this strategy worked for me and finally giving myself and baby some rest. Hope it helps.
