Am I overfeeding my baby with solids

Hi ladies How much solid food are you giving your baby? Mine is 6 months old now. I’m breastfeeding and she nurses well, but I’m also giving her solids. Her poop has changed a lot. I’m not sure if I’m giving her too much solid food, but she really wants to eat. Today, for example, she had 2 spoons of mashed banana, 3 spoons of yogurt, and 1 spoon of avocado. She eats these after milk in the morning, at lunch, and dinner. I’m starting to worry if I’m giving her too much

At 6 months its 1-2 tablespoons a day I believe as it's about first tastes. They don't need 3 meals/solids until around 10 months

At 6 months it’s recommend to introduce solids once a day and then increase to twice a day around 7 months, it is all personal preference tbh but babies do get their nutrients from their milk until 12 months so ideally they shouldn’t be having more than 2 solids/2 meals a day until around 9/10 months x

You don't need to feed solids more than once a day for babies at 6 months. I didn't give my baby 3 meals a day until 9 months old! She's 11 months now and has 3 meals plus about 2-3 bottles of milk. Once she's a year I'm hoping to reduce down to 2 8floz bottles per day

My son is 7 months and we do a instant baby cereal during the day where it turns like a mushy consistency bc it’s got wheat and stuff and then later in the day I give him a little puree . My son hardly even has an interest in solids though so that’s good she does!! I don’t give him that much and his poop has changed too

Before 1 year, baby’s main food is still milk. At 6 months, you should really be starting out with one meal first, and slowly increased to 2 meals a day, at about 30oz for each meal, or less, you’re not supposed to be feeding them until they’re “full”. The point of starting solids to introduce different textures to them, and an additional source of iron and other vitamins. Their stomach is still tiny, so don’t think that because they keep eating meaning they must want more. Though I think you should be ok with how you are doing, just maybe not feeding them that many combinations of food in a day just yet, as it can be hard to identify if baby reacts badly to any of them.

My baby was starting porridge at 5months old she eat twise a day with little portions. Just 1teaspoon of porridge each lunch and dinner. I also think I gave her alot but she always finished her foods.

My baby drinks 24 oz of milk and 2 oz of puree 🙈

And I breastfeed in between so I’m definitely probably over feeding him. 😭

As long as she’s still having solids aren’t replacing milk and she’s still drinking enough, I’d say that’s fine. My boy was eating 3 ‘meals’ a day at 6 months, and all BLW rather than spoons of purées.

Yes , your are over feeding her with solids. Try to slowly reduce it so its not a shock. To her body. Try to feed her 1xday ( two spoons)

A baby isn’t going to eat more than they can eat. My pediatricians have always told me if baby will have it then give it to them. When they are full, they will start to pull away, spit out the food, etc.. You know your child best.

If you're doing solids in a baby led way, you won't be over feeding her. She won't eat it if she's full, unless you're literally forcing her. If she's showing interest and hunger signs for the food, then you're doing the right thing by feeding her! Their poos change drastically when they start solids, so it could just be that instead of a volume issue?
