Picture from Sunday

We started implementing "quiet time" as our son is starting to skip naps randomly. We know eventually his naps will disappear (he 2.5) so while he's still mostly napping we decided to introduce it now, especially since our second is due in June. Between 12:30 and 1pm we take him to his room with toys and a book or 2 and say "it's quiet nappy time, you need to stay in your bed until mama/daddy comes and gets you." It's It's working well and he usually falls asleep within 30 mins. This time it was mid read.

We have almost the exact same schedule we do! Although I do let him get out of his bed if he wants to and play with toys/read books if he chooses not to nap but I do keep the door closed and we do an hour of “quiet time” if he doesn’t nap. My second just turned 3 months and have been working towards his second nap of the day being while my toddlers quiet nap time is which works about 4 or so days of the week. Only small break I get for the day 😆

@Shelby his room is right by the stairs. There is a gate, but he's figured it out, his arms just aren't long enough to open it. Also his dad has gotten him used to falling asleep while holding his hand, which I won't be able to do when the baby arrives.

So adorable!🥰

Quiet play saved my sanity with my step son, even at five he still needed the nap in the middle of the day or he was a raging crabby patty after around 2 lol, started doing outside play for like an hour and then we’d come in and clean up and do quiet play, no TV, no phone, nothing that made loud noise, it was reading or coloring or playing with our soft toys and without fail my little dude who “was too bigs for naps anymore” would curl up on the couch with me and nap for an hour or so and then we’d play video games or watch a movie x)
