Not at all. My son started sleeping through at 3 months old so I put him in his own room then

We did it at 5.5 months. The advice is if course they should stay with you for 6 months but we realised we were keeping each other awake at night which made for very grumpy mum and baby! Worked well for us

@Francesca I think we will try it tonight, i also have a freddie who's slept through from 3 months!😂

Ours was around 5m :)

My daughter is 18 months and still doesn’t sleep through the night 😫 She is also still in our room, but we are about to move. I’m also due in June with a second. This time around I want to transition at about 6 months.

Both my boys went into their own rooms just before 5 months as we were all keeping eachother awake and not sleeping enough. The room is literally right next to ours so they were only maybe another 1.5m away from us in their cot in their own room. Obviously official guidance is 6 months but you've got to do what's right for you! X

In most western countries it’s normal for babies to be separated in their own room from birth, so really it’s all about how you feel. My son is 18months and his crib will remain in our room until he’s 3

Mine have gone in they’re own room from the say they came home from the hospital

Just remember the official guidelines on 6 months are due to SIDS. Saying that, plenty move them sooner for a number of reasons and it’s up to you about that choice and your view on risk too. I think in Australia the guidelines is even longer at 12 months x

@Kay-louise i mean this with no hate at all! I am genuinely curious but feel free to tell me to shush as it is none of my business- we’re you not worried about SIDS considering how much the risk is lowered when they are in the same room?

@Claudia they had owlet socks on all 4 of them but for me I found it very difficult to stay awake when breastfeeding if I was in bed so for me to be able to leave the room sit in a nursing chair it was much safer in the fact of me not ending up cosleeping accidentally. We still had the bassinet in our room just incase of rough nights or when they were ill and we wanted to have them with us but in the long run I felt safer waking up and going to they’re room to feed xx

My babies have both slept in our bedroom (youngest is only 8 weeks but oldest did until 1 year) and I’ve always taken them to the nursery in the middle of the night for diaper changes and feeds. @Angel I’ve never heard of babies being in their own room from birth and I’m in the US. Everyone I know who has kids has used a bassinet. Personally I try to follow absolutely all safety guidelines to a t because it helps my anxiety.

@Kay-louise I loved the Owlet with my first! That makes sense, it is so hard to stay awake! Thank you for answering xx

My son slept in our room until 18 months and we had no issues with the transition. He started sleeping through the night at a month old but if he was teething or went through a regression he would wake up at night, so it would have been a pain to put him in his own room any earlier.

My first was in their own room at about 6 months, 2nd was over a year old (didn't have space to move him into his own room) 3rd was around 8 months!
