Glucose in urine

I had my 34 week midwife appointment yesterday and she mentioned my urine has glucose in it. She wasn’t worried and isn’t sending me for GD testing as this is the first time I’ve ever had it. She will test again in 2 weeks as usual.

She said it could just be a case of eating too much sugar in the morning (I had cereal, white toast w/marmite & yoghurt honey and strawberries all before my appointment so this probably was the case🤣).

Has anyone else experienced this and then the glucose disappearing next midwife appointment? I’m really trying to be good now as this has scared me a little.

I had similar. Tested ++++4 when I went to triage on Friday which is very high😅 then they tested again when I was going home about 1.5 hour later and it had come right down to basically nothing but still had glucose in.
I’m putting it down to all the sugar I ate trying to get baby to move as I went in with reduced movements 😅😂 however I still have to go for the diabetes test because the first reading was so high🙄

Yes I had high level of glucose in mine 2 weeks ago so midwife sent me for GD test (it’s tomorrow). I saw my midwife again today and had no glucose in my urine but still have to go for the test 😭

Yes I’ve had this twice always when I was a bit giddy with the biscuits in the morning before seeing her. When I make a conscious effort to reduce sugar before the test it’s always fine the next time they test

i had 1+ at the 34 weeks appointment. She said it was a low reading so they would only send me for a test if I had a second 1+ reading. I was quite dehydrated so I wonder if that contributed.
I’m doing a research trial for diabetes with an appointment on Friday so they will prob test again. 🤞🏻

Yep this happened as a one off on both my pregnancies so now I try to remember to avoid anything sweet ahead of my appointments!

Yeah I had this and I've been told to always do my urine samples first thing in the morning so they know they're getting a fair reading rather than skewed by anything you've consumed (so first wee of the day for your sample, pre breakfast/cuppa tea etc)

That’s really interesting. I asked the Midwife if it could be what I’d eaten and she said that it should always be zero regardless of what you’ve eaten 🤷‍♀️

how strange as when I had a plus the first question my midwife asked is what have I eaten today?
Never consistent

my midwife did explain if you have GD then you have it, the glucose will stay yes. But if it’s just due to sugar then it will go back to normal if I don’t eat tons of sugar before my wee sample

Thanks. That makes more sense to me - I didn’t entirely trust the answer from my midwife!
