Aptamil Pepti preparation
I’ve recently had to switch my baby from Nutramigen to Aptamil Pepti so I’m a bit confused about the preparation. With Nutramigen we used to prepare with completely cooled boiled water (room temperature) but I’m reading different instructions.. to prepare Aptamil Pepti with boiled water after it has left to cool for 30 mins (around 70 degrees). Is that strictly necessary and what do we do in case we travel? I used to take a thermos of boiled water with me to prepare the feeds as I go.. can I still do that?
Also for preparation of feeds in advance, with Nutramigen we could prepare bottles and leave them up to 24 hours in the fridge, however that seems to be different with Aptamil. Am I able to prep feeds in advance at all with Aptamil Pepti?
Thank you 🙏
With pepti u prepare like regular formula so mix with water 70⁰C or above. You can premake bottles using 70⁰C water and add formula and then immediately put in fridge and they last like 24hrs and you can just feed straight from fridge or just warm up. As for out and about just fill thermos with water straight from kettle just after its finished boiling. It typically stays above 70⁰C for 5-6hrs if u have a good thermos n then make bottle as normal but u will need to cool it down as obviously u can serve it at 70⁰C. It's necessary to do it this way because it contains cronobacter which can be fatal to babies and can only be destroyed/killed with water above 70⁰C. Hope that makes sense x
