Nursery Rant

My lo was refused into nursery on his last visit on account of mumps as I'd mentioned he had swollen glands, I knew it wasn't mumps but agreed to have him checked and sure enough it was just swollen glands. I contacted the nursery to express my disappointment in his refusal and the fact that they had not made me aware they'd had a case of mumps the week before and we had a disagreement, as they weren't willing to re-emburse any cost for the day and I had done myself out of a days wages not being able to work. Anyway, cut to his first day back today and when I pick him up I am told that he had been very naughty and stuck his middle finger up at the manager I'd had the disagreement with. He's never done this around any of the family, nor have any of the family ever done this around him, the boy can't even do thumbs up so I find this really hard to believe (for context, he's 3). What do I do?

I’d keep him in for now, if incidents keep happening then I’d take him out. Would you be able to get him a place elsewhere quick enough?

i would keep him in taking him out isn’t going to do anything and i’m glad the daycare is taking initiative to send sick kids home instead of keep them! even as a precaution. sometimes too the daycare cannot formally notify parents of another child’s sickness due to HIPPA laws and there usually has to be multiple cases in a certain amount of time for them to send out a notice to the other parents. the middle finger thing is whatever imo, children are going to learn things from other kids no matter where they are/go (good or bad in this case) sorry that this incident upset you but if u pull him nothing is really going to change or happen 🤷‍♀️

I don't think the nursery has done anything wrong. They have to safeguard other children.

The only issue here is your child being labelled as naughty. Otherwise it seems very responsible and sensible of the nursery to take all the safeguarding measures they can.

He might have learned from other children a bunch of kids together they learn fast lol
