@Miriam yes planning to do the same for flavor and taste exploring. How old was your baby when you started this introduction?
around 4 to 6 months somewhere in that window used to be the standard recommendation and if your baby sits up and showing other readiness signs, most paediatricians recommended to start around 4 especially if your baby is already in formula I would just go with whatever your paediatrician has recommended. We are waiting until six months because my son is ebf but my in-laws family was /are formula most of them & all started around four months & it worked out great for them - so I think the risks of increased allergies if you start too early are more for breastfed babies than formula but I don’t know if that’s just based on the type of formula.
@Katia last week? So like 4.5 months. It's not an everyday thing yet. With our older child we started a little before 6 months.
Have you done the cereal first?
I’ve been blending boiled frozen fruits and veggies
We just started 2 days ago. She’s 4.5 too. I made puree. One carrots and one zucchini. Honestly has @Miriam its mostly play. She takes 2-3 baby spoon and it’s pretty much it. It’s so funny to see their reaction. Ours is interest by food, but now she starts to eat it she is really circumspect 😅
I’ll introduce solids around 6 months as this is when babies are typically meeting all of the milestones and this is the best practice recommendation based on most recent evidence. Honestly, we will skip all purées (except for foods that are served that way - applesauce, hummus, peanut butter, yogurt) I’m not sure where you got info about formula, but it is a complete nutrition source and breastfed babies aren’t getting access to nutrition that formula fed babies aren’t. Antibodies from mom? Sure. But the veggies mom is eating? Doesn’t make a difference. Formula is exactly what your kiddo needs :)
We've done a little. A spoon full of peanut butter. Some smashed avocado, purees and humus. We give her the spoon with a little on it to play with and put in her mouth. It's mostly play at this point and just experimenting rather than a ton of nutrition for us Best practice is to offer milk an hour before roughly at this age if offering solids. You don't have to offer every meal (that's not always possible with nap schedules this early).
