Putting baby to sleep on front

So I have always put my 9 month old baby on her back to sleep as per advice. I feel like since 4 months we’ve never had good sleep and now we cosleep. This morning she was awake from 3.30-5am and nothing would settle her, so I put her on her front beside me (thinking perhaps she had gas) and I rubbed her back until she fell asleep. She then proceeded to sleep until 8am which 1) she’s never laid in this late and 2) I can’t remember the last time she did a 3 hour stint. Now I’m putting it down to her being on her front… she hates being on her front during the day and would never roll this way herself, although she can roll herself back and would do that straight away if laid on her front. Does anyone put their baby down like this? I know the advice is not before a year unless they put themselves onto their front. I’m sort of answering my own question already but intrigued to hear people’s experiences. TIA x

Exactly the same here - hates tummy time, sleeps through the night on her front 😅 she came to it naturally by herself though so I didn't worry as I've always taken my cue from her

I lay by girl on her front. She’s 10 months and can roll herself both ways. If I lay her on her back she is awake for longer fussing and then rolls herself over eventually to sleep, I just put her straight on her tummy now as she will go straight to sleep without fuss and sleeps through till morning

I have always put mine on her side, it was the only way she would settle due to reflux. She flip flops from belly to back all night long, which is quite annoying as we cosleep. She does do longer stretches if she’s on her belly.

They sleep better on their stomach (as do adults) because pressure on their stomach calms their nervous system. Their airways are also technically more open so they take longer slower breaths and therefore burn fewer calories...ergo wake up less to eat. That being said, it's also a risk of breathing in more carbon monoxide because there is less air flow in front of their face causing an increased risk of SIDS. So do what you will with that information!

My little ones both ended up being tummy sleepers well before their first bdays. I would say they are safe since you stated they can roll both ways just rarely does so on their own. I’d give it a go for a few nights and let us know how it goes for you, momma! Crossed my fingers for you!
