Anyone else deal with this?

I’m expecting baby no 3. I have a 3 year old and an 18 month old. They were having a busy day and I was around my parents. They mentioned I looked exhausted which I said I was. I said yes they’re so busy today. My mom said to me “hate to break it to you but you did this to yourself”. Ummm I was not complaining. I said I wasn’t complaining and that I just have busy kids and I’m heavily pregnant. I should also add that this was while we were on holiday together. My parents (and In laws) live 3 hours away so I’m used to being on my own. Sigh, I have no village.

I swear it's that generation, they are always coming out with comments they deem harmless when really their being offensive.

My mother said it all the time and so did my husband I started saying it back to him “You signed up for this” “This is what you have to deal with” Ok, so you being the father didn’t? I rarely ever see my mother. I choose to keep my distance. Even if we invited her out she always declined She invited herself on our summer vacation though which I hate I hope she gets sick and can’t come lol

So they brought it up and then told you that you were complaining? Yeah, sounds about right for the older generation. Ugh. You're doing a great job! Don't let them get to you.

I would prove ask what exactly they expected me to say when they pointed out I looked tired.

Yes. My family is exactly like this, my relatives are very controlling & they can’t wait to have an “I told u so moment” The moment I learned to distance myself from them & to not take their criticism to heart my life became very peaceful. It sucks to not have a village bt I’d rather be alone than be around ppl who make me feel lonely. X

@Angela seriously though! In literally everything, they're always making slightly offensive comments. But if you ever dare say something they did you didn't like, suddenly they're defensive and you're the bad guy. They also never apologize. Ever. 🫠🫠
