Baby constipation

So my lo is 3 months and has been struggling with constipation, she’s formula fed only and on aptimal and has been from birth. She hasn’t really been regular since 4 weeks old and could go 5-6 days without a bowel movement. Health visitor said it was fine and lo was fine in herself until that 6th day and then would need help to go with bicycle kicks etc. Bit tmi but was always a loose stool. Beginning of April she started to go everyday which was great but last week she really struggled and it was almost clay like and she had some blood. Went to the gp and they have given her laxatives but I don’t want to use this long term. I don’t know if I should change her milk to a different brand or even the colic/constipation one. Has anyone experienced similar or have any advice about this?

Our girl has had issues on and off Health visitor told us to make bottles to ml rather than oz as water content is higher. Some old school also suggested cooled boiled water no more than 3oz a day to help soften. We also had to use laxative on and off. Also pureed prune she had quite early seemed to help. Not sure if that's helpful Hope baby feels better soon

My first struggled with bowels on cow and gate milk for about a month - was really uncomfortable trying to poo so I changed to Kendamil and he was a different baby so you could always try a different brand of milk and see if that helps?? If she doesn’t get on well with it could always change it back. Go with what you think is best for your baby. Their digestive system does change at this age aswell! Xx

You can also try either mixing ready to feed pre made formula with powdered bottles or alternating

Also we have been sitting our little one on a potty for quite a while now from 6 months I think The gravity seems to help

We had a similar situation with our baby so we’ve used co lactase drops in his milk and he was a different baby within a couple of days. Sometimes they struggle to break down the lactose in the milk, especially for the first 6 months. Might be worth a try so you don’t necessarily need to change her formula
