Yes, they can do that they want with their benefits policy. As long as they give you what you’re legally entitled to, any enhancement is their decision.
Yup. Enhanced maternity pay is totally voluntary so they can make up their own rules as to who gets what.
@Caroline oh thats a pain! I do find it a bit unfair considering I’ve been with them for 3 years now so I was hoping it’d be based more on length of service but apparently not! It doesn’t seem fair to me for only managers to get it but I guess it is what it is😅
@Donna thanks! that sucks, they try not to give it to people anyway claiming they haven’t worked there long enough if they’ve swapped departments so that’s a shame😅
With enhanced maternity pay they can essentially set their own criteria as long as they're not breaking any discrimination laws. At my place they offered better leave the longer you'd been at the company e.g. 1-4 years 80% salary for 9 months, 5+ years 100% salary for 9 months. Setting benefits to be better the more senior you are is fairly standard tbh. Like we get access to a bonus and better share options the more senior we get. You could try pushing for it but be aware they're likely within their rights to have various offerings and criteria.
