Worrying about hydration in this heat 😭

I've been offering the breast more often since the heat hit two days ago but today he's not wet as many nappies as normal, definitely not 6. He's been super upset tonight woken up 4 times since 7pm already, I've offered breast every time and he's taken it but his nappy I put on at 7 is still pretty dry so I'm starting to worry now. Anyone have any advice? I've been told no water under 6 months but what else can I do?

Offer some cooled boiled water, won’t do any harm I know they say breastfed babies get enough hydration from your milk but mine also has water x

I’ve been expressing some milk to offer in a cup between feeds so I know he’s definitely getting more on top of bf more. I also brought one of those foodie feeder trays and froze some breast milk too (good for teething but also to cool him down + he’s also getting in more milk) I’d say offering a very small amount of cool boiled water is also fine between breastfeeds, we would advise tho no more than 2oz over 24hrs so that it doesn’t impact your feeding. Hope that helps a little. X

Thanks, I was thinking about trying to pump some milk to freeze so he can get more that way but I struggle to pump much 😭 I will try a little boiled water tomorrow x

I’m not that blessed with an oversupply either, best advice my HV gave me: pump 45mins after feeding, as this will allow supply to build and then when baby next feeds, they will increase demand. As well as power pumping I do 20 mins both sides, 10 mins break, another 10 mins of pumping, another 10 mins break then one last 10 mins of pumping and try to do it same time each day, I do it after the morning feed so I have 3-4oz for a cup of milk early eve when he seems most grumpy and I try do an extra pump every so often when I can for my frozen milk, aside from that he is a boobie monster and I feel he is constantly feeding anyway. 🤣 hope it works for you. X
