Dummy

Anyone have any idea on how to ease the transition of taking my 2 year old off the dummy? We're nothing finding it hard! I've tried cutting it and going cold turkey, he doesn't like the cut dummy and cries for a different one.

We tried cutting it and giving it to our daughter thinking she won’t suck it but she was still using it So we decided to just go cold turkey ,,,, when she was asking for it we had to distract her and loads of cuddles but obviously every child is different It took couple of days but for there in the end You got this mama

We told our son over Easter that the Easter bunny was going to come and get his dummy in return for chocolate eggs. We told him he came to get it for little babies who need it more as he is now a big boy. He never asked for it again after we took it and he found Easter eggs in return. He did say that he’s not using a dummy anymore as he’s a big boy.

My daughter was 17ish months when we stopped, so couldn't verbally explain it to her. We did it over a month. For the first two weeks we removed it from her day naps. Then the last two weeks removed it from her night sleeps too. It wasn't super linear though, if we didn't want a big fight we'd give it to her for a bit. But kept moving in that direction, if that makes sense? For context she only used it to sleep btw, so that made it a lot easier

I took away all other dummies (said I just couldn’t find then!) apart from one, so he had that same one distinctive dummy for a few days, before I cut the teat. Then when he asked for another one, I just said that was all we had! He kept the “broken” one for a few days, then eventually just started throwing it to the side of his cot as it wasn’t giving him the comfort x

We tried the apple cider vinegar option, did not work as she enjoyed the taste. So we cut the teat then a few days later cut the teat some more. She can barely hold it in her mouth, so it falls out when she's sleeping. It does seem to be working as she doesn't ask for it during the day now.
