As long as you originally place him on his back to sleep and he rolls himself then he is fine staying in that position! My little guy has been a belly sleeper since 4 months.
Babies instinctively will move themselves if they can’t breathe he’ll turn his head if he’s uncomfortable don’t worry too much he should be fine. Make sure his head is turn completely & not buried into anything the risk for sids is significantly low at this age.
Mine is 5 Months and just started this a month ago for naps in her crib… we still keep her in the bassinet to force her to Not overnight as she sleeps really good through the night and I feel like if she’s on her stomach she’s gonna wake up at night . She goes about 2 hours in her crib for naps then pops up.. so idk.. she can’t roll back yet so hoping she will learn that soon- but yeah she turns her head to the side
Thanks y'all... I feel so much better about this. I was thinking how am I supposed to monitor him all night. @Aubrie yeah... I stopped swaddling him around month 2/3... he was getting his arms out. He's always been a strong little guy. Lol. @MK lol these kids never cease to amaze me. So much they don't tell us. @Tiera yeahh I've seen him move his head side to side in his sleep. @Lauren yeah he did it during his daytime naps, but those I can monitor. He can't roll back yet either... and I'm not sure his to teach him that.
My 5 month old is literally the same! We place him on his back and few moments later he is on his tummy. It gives me so much anxiety but every time i try to put him back on his back he rolls on his tummy again
Same my baby would wake herself out trying to break our..:she is super active and just wanted to be free!
My now almost 6 month old started that at 5 months too! She is a belly sleeper now it doesn’t matter what we do if I lay her on her back within seconds she rolls! As long as your baby is safe sleeping and not swaddled I think it’s okay. My daughter has the strength to turn her head to the side and isn’t swaddled and sleeps in her bassinet with no additional items near her and she sleeps through the night on her tummy!
