How long is it taking your 2 year old to fall asleep at night once in bed and what's your routine look like?

My 27 month old falls asleep typically within 45 min to 1hr on average once in bed at night. For context, we still breastfeed and we cosleep so once in bed she will feed, and we will whisper talk or do some gentle tickles to wind down. Sometimes she is still hyped up so I will help her settle playfully, other times she is pretty chill and just feeds and cuddles. Depends on what her day was like. Rough nights it can take up to 1.5 hrs to get her asleep and she will fight it. Good night's she is out in 30 min. I figure this is normal for her age and our routine but just curious what it looks like for other mama's with kiddos at this stage. She sleep pretty well most nights and still naps every day.

You’re not alone! My son is 26m and sleep has always been a hard thing for him. As a newborn he needed a lot of deep pressure and rocking to fall asleep, then just nursing to sleep for the longest time. We weaned him at 19m because I’m pregnant and couldn’t handle it. Nights got SO much harder. Yes he finally stopped waking 5+ times a night but getting him to fall asleep is a hassle. After many months of working on it we are at the point where we do a bath (sometimes we skip but I think it helps), lotion pjs teeth, then we get in bed, sometimes if he’s super hyper dad will tussle him around a bit, but I put white noise on, turn the lights off, and lay next to him. I stopped holding him because it got too uncomfortable while pregnant but I’ll offer snuggles while laying next to him. It still takes anywhere from 45-1.5 hr to get him asleep. We co sleep too. I think this is just our normal & will be for awhile.

Has it always been that way? I know that my daughter turned 2 in feb & is just now got out of that phase & it started around 22m. I would feel so defeated some nights because I told myself I’d get up & do chores after bedtime, but never was able to lol & now I lay in bed w my AirPods in, watching YouTube videos & she’s out within 5 minutes. I hope you have all the easy put downs soon. 🫶🏼
