Twin-specific transition to beds

1 of our 2yos is able to climb out of his cot now so we plan to take sides down. I've done it before for a singleton so not looking for advice on the transition itself but interested to know how people managed it with twins? Did you do 1 child at a time or both at once? Any other tips etc? Thanks!

Hi Hannah, I transitioned my girls quite early because they were climbers and they took to it so well, I think they were a bit niave to the fact they could actually get out. The first few nights I made sure they were extra tired (super early nap and then kept them awake till bed) so they just stopped and it took off really well from there. I also have used Lucy Wolfs sleep training for my girls so of that doesn’t work, I used the stay and sooth method. So first few nights you say that you are staying with them until the fall asleep (encourage to stay in bed but do not engage in conversation, only use words like bed time or go to sleep) After few nights of success, stay eat night but move closer toward the door, each successful night move a little further back and after this works then tell them you are staying outside the door and if they get up do not engage in convo, same as before just put them back to bed and wait outside the door again. Do this for a few nights and you

Should get to a point where you can just say goodnight and leave them room and they fall asleep, if any of the steps fail, just go back to the previous nights routine where it worked and try again. This also works so well for sleep regressions! Good luck!

Thanks Holly. They were sleep trained at 12 months but this is a useful reminder that we may need to go back to that for this. Think we'll try both at once to get it out the way in 1 go 🫠
