I been drinking coffee all day, multiple cups and my milk supply tanked

I wanted to drink coffee to help me be more productive and realize things, solve some problems. But it tanked my milk supply. I usually produce at least 170 ml every 4 hours so about 6-7 ounces. And now I'm only producing about 4-5 so about 120ml. My baby doesn't like formula too much anymore so he's just dealing with it. Once the coffee is out of my system I produce more. So I'm drinking more water. I also made lactation brownies. They're high in calories so I can't eat more than 5-6 in a day or even a week because I'll gain weight. What else can I do to go back to my normal supply amounts

Have you changed your pump parts recently? You’re still producing the very high end of average plus a bit more, and pumping enough for a bottle each time!

@GMF no I haven't changed. I just noticed my boobs are not filling up all the way as they have used to. Coffee affects my milk supply negatively if I drink the strong kind and I drank like 5-6 cups in one day.

@Sylvia that’s interesting, coffee isn’t known to decrease milk supply! It’s recommended to stick to 300mg or less per day though because caffeine does get into breastmilk in small amounts. If you’re exclusively pumping you’ll need to replace pump parts pretty frequently. If you pumped 3x/day you’d replace duckbill valves once a month and backflow protectors every 3 months - but obviously adjust based on your own pumping frequency. It’s also normal for your breasts not to feel as full anymore once your supply regulates.

Caffeine dehydrates you, hydrate and change the pump parts every 3 months. In a few days you’ll be back to over producing.
