Hi everyone. Do student loan dedications stop when you’re on maternity leave? Also do I need to contact pensions and let them know I’m going on maternity leave? Has anyone got like a check list of things I should be doing to make sure I do this right before leaving. 😂🥲 thanks!

Yes, student loans will decrease as your money goes down over the maternity period, once you are earning nothing then nothing is deducted! Your employer I think contact pensions on your behalf / sort the money or their side. Make sure you update your union as you won’t have to pay at all whilst on maternity, yet still protected. Make sure to get a maternity payment schedule from your employer/payroll so you know what you should be getting every month. I think that’s it, hope it helps! :)

Thanks Georgia that’s really helpful. When should I ask for a maternity pay ment schedule? If I apply for SPL I suppose this will change?

@Hollie id say anytime within 2nd/3rd trimester, gives them enough time to produce it! I’d imagine so with SPL, I didn’t go down that route (wish I did) x
