My one year old still not eating

I’ve been trying to get my baby to eat since she was 6 months old… She has no interest in eating at all after she turned 10 month I just decided to let it go because she just wasn’t ready… So since she’s already one I’m trying again, but she hates purées.. What is something else I can give her any suggestions? I’m really trying to get her to start eating. It already makes me feel bad that she’s one and hasn’t started eating solid foods like most baby do before turning one..

Have you started making her smoothies? Try fruit and veggie smoothies

You can give solid foods like pieces of buttered toast, scrambled eggs, pieces of fruit cut up.

@Ryann I wish that I could give my daughter toast and eggs but she is allergic to dairy and eggs. 😢

Have you tried giving her appropriately cut up pieces of food and letting her interact with it while you sit there and eat the same or similar food?

@Tammy have you tried any vegan alternatives? I’m sure they has to be a good bread option out there! And I know there is vegan butter and vegan egg replacement

I’d say since your daughter is one skip the purées and go to more of a baby led weaning style with normal table food. You’ll need to modify it (or cut it appropriately) to reduce choking hazards. I’d recommend downloading the Solid Starts app and start with 6-9 month suggestions since you are just starting out!

I second baby led weaning. Some babies just don’t much like purées

@Dana I have but I think she just hates the texture so I was thinking of making the smoothie a right consistency to put it in her cup since she’s knows how to drink from a straw already but I don’t have much faith in it….😩

@Ryann I have but she gags every time and I be really afraid she’s going to choke…😩

@Tricia yes but she gags it’s like she chokes on it every time I’ve tried and scares me 😩

@Anais use water that should help the texture more

@Danae Handley so I do have the solids starts app and I have cut think appropriately for her and she plays with it a little but when she put it in her mouth and taste it a little bit she starts gagging it just makes me feel like I cant give her anything because she will choke …

@Danae Handley I’m going to start trying again though and see how it goes..I hoping she starts eating 😩

@Anais some babies have a harder time with textures than others! My daughter would gag with things like mashed potatoes, avocado, and oatmeal. While she still doesn’t like them she doesn’t gag anymore! It can take a bunch of exposures to get them used to new textures. I believe in you and her! You can do this 💕

@Anais it is so scary hearing them gag when learning how to eat but it really is just a stage that they go through. The loud gags and coughs are okay as the sound indicates that air is still able to get through. Watch close, comfort her through it if needed but only intervene if there is silence.
