Bath time

So when my toddler has a bath, I’ve always just had to do it that I kinda fill up a jug and pour it over her head as I just can’t get her to either stay still, or keep her head back. I hate doing that though as it all goes in her eyes and stuff! I immediately dry her face with a towel but I feel so bad. I’ve tried to get her to use one of those shield things that they can wear to stop it going to their face but she kept pulling it off. I really want to work out the best way to do this but just got no clue as she doesn’t understand that she needs to keep her head back to stop it going in her eyes! What do others do? 🙃

I tell me little one to look at the shower which works for us

Oh I just chuck it over his head and pray he gets used to it 🫣😂 we gave him a shower tonight to make it fun and pretend it was raining, and he seemed to enjoy that and didn't mind it going over his head then 🤷🏻‍♀️

We struggle with this ourselves! We have actually recently resorted to putting her in the bath chair and limit hair wash days to every few days now (unless she’s been a mucky pup that day!). We find it’s much easier to manage and hold her head back to stop it going in her eyes. Don’t get me wrong, she still dislikes it.. but rather than having a normal bath where she can get up and move around away from us - which we then worry she could slip etc! I haven’t tried the eye shield thing, but wanted to give it a go! I have held her bath toys up in the ‘sky’ too and and whizzed them around telling her they’re ‘gonna come and get her and kiss her’ which she finds funny and takes her mind off it- also her animals in the sky and then once I’m done with her hair, throwing them all in the water from the height saying they’re diving! Dunno about you.. but some days she deals with it and others she kicks up the biggest fuss 😂

I wrap my littleun in a towel after her bath, stick her under my arm, have her facing upwards and rinse her head from a lying position x

I lay him down and rinse with a jug. The bath is shallow and if the water is too high, I put my arm under his neck.

We struggle with this so much! He has absolutely no tolerance for having his hair washed and it's traumatic every time! We've tried every trick in the book and nothing has worked 😫

It’s really good to get them used to having water over their face. Hopefully means they won’t find it traumatic when they’re older, for swimming, baths and showers. We pour the water over, then we get our little boy to wipe his eyes, we make it into a game and he loves it x

@Ella ours is used to having water over his face, we made sure to do this as soon as he started having baths. Still finds it traumatic now 😭 only when having his hair washed though. He's fine getting his face wet when swimming or when we do water play.

@Lia literally same🤣

My little girl loves a bath but literally hates having her hair washed. She won't tilt her head back or lay her head in the water so I have to just put the water over hair but try to tilt her head back slightly. She cling to me and gets scared so I'm getting soaked too
