My pelvic floor is on vacation — anyone else?

Hey mamas, Is anyone else dealing with this or is it just me and my rogue bladder? Lately, I’ve been leaking pee when I lift things (even things that shouldn’t count as “heavy”), when I wait too long to go, and to top it off — I can’t even hold the lightest kegel weight. Like… not even close. It basically laughs at me and falls right out. I’m trying to figure out what’s “normal” postpartum and what’s a sign I need to call in the pros (aka pelvic floor PT). If you’ve been here, what helped you? Did time and exercises do the trick or was PT the game-changer? Would love to hear your stories — and reassure myself that my pelvic floor isn’t the only one on strike. Thanks, ladies!

I am dealing with this also! I started pelvic floor PT yesterday and highly recommend to get a better understanding of what’s going on and get the right exercises to support recovery!

Hi Kailey, I was like that for the first two weeks after delivery. I started exercises to help with diastase recti and it also helped with recovering my pelvic floor. Today I am 6 weeks postpartum and I don’t have issues with my bladder anymore. I am also doing stairs at the gym using a waist band to support my core. I am not sure if this works for everybody but it helped me.

I’m not familiar with exercises but I do know leaking pee is a sign to see a therapist. Although it is common, it’s not normal even in pregnancy. Just a sign of a weak pelvic floor that needs strengthening

@Erinn thanks Erinn!

@Cindy thanks Cindy!

@Lizzy I see, thanks lizzy!
